Description
Directions to from the Barn to The Red Lion, Cranford.
This route is the most direct route from Burton Latimer to Cranford, but follows roads. The route is approximately half on pavements and half on quieter roads, taking a footbridge over the A14.
Exit The Barn gates and turn immediately left and left again onto High Street
Turn right onto Church Street at the War Memorial.
Follow Church Street past the Church and round the bend at the end where it turns into Cranford Road.
Continue on Cranford Road until it joins the bypass, crossing carefully at the roundabout and and turning left along the footpath by the bypass.
After about 150ft, turn left back onto Cranford Road, this is a cul-de-sac for traffic, so generally quiet but there is some traffic back and forwards to the farm.
At the end of the road it turns into a footbridge over the A14 and comes out on the old Barton Seagrave to Cranford Road, turn right along here and follow the road into Cranford village. Please be careful on this road as there is no path, however, there is mostly a wide verge on the right. Although this was the main road to Cranford, this has now been superseded by the A14 so the volume of traffic is much lower.
The Red Lion is a stone building on the right hand side, about two thirds of the way through the village.
